Chimps to Mogo Zoo
Date: 10 March 2009

Charlie & Samantha, our much loved chimpanzees are at last flying to Mogo Zoo south of Sydney within the next month. They are going into 30 days of isolation while blood tests are done and although they will be in the same area they are isolated from other primates.
It is a time for people to come and say their goodbyes before the end of April.
Michael Willis visited Mogo Zoo recently and said that the facilities that they are to go to look great. They will join up with another pair of chimps called Holly and Lewis. As Sam is Charlies daughter she will join up with Lewis while hopefully Charlie will be housed with Holly after careful integration. Michael says that Holly and Lewis are happy, well adjusted chimps so we hope the mix works well.
Willowbank raised the money for the transfer about three years ago but Mogo have had trouble fund raising for their extensive enclosure and have only just completed the $500,000 exhibit.
The staff at Willowbank have very mixed emotions about the departure of our very good friends but are pleased that they have a chance of a happy future.
