Thanks to Enable fibre broadband and Civtec, the native section at Willowbank is now online!
We’ll be sharing video content from the Nocturnal Kiwi House where our North Island Brown Kiwi are held. Watch them as they explore their surroundings and get up close and personal as we take them through their monthly health checks. We have a North Island Brown Kiwi, named Taika, who hatched in August 2022 – follow his story as he settles into life at Willowbank.
With our fibre connection, we can now share details of Operation Nest Egg – part of the work we’re doing to protect our native species. Willowbank works with the Department of Conservation and other community groups to facilitate eggs being brought in from the wild, where they are reared and then re-leased. Willowbank incubates eggs for up to four species of kiwi – Rowi, Haast Tokoeka, Great Spotted Kiwi, and North Island Brown Kiwi.
