Animal Keeper

Permanent, Full-time

A rare and unique position has become available for an experienced Animal Keeper at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. Willowbank has four sections including natives, kiwi, farm and zoo. This role will have fixed days on the zoo and farm section.

Position type: Full-time, 40 hours per week including a weekend day.

Job Description:

This role will involve the daily animal husbandry, enclosure upkeep, enrichment and record keeping of the animals held at the reserve. Exotic species include lemurs, capuchin monkeys, siamang, otters, capybara and a variety of parrots. As well as this, the role also consists of public speaking with keeper talks and encounters.

Essential Criteria:

• Experience working with exotic species for a minimum of 2 years.
• The ability to work independently and within a team.
• Fit and healthy as this is an active role.
• A high standard of work.
• Reliability.
• Confident with public speaking.

We expect all applicants to have relevant animal husbandry experience at another zoo or facility.
